Background
Born in Lahore on October 15, 1994, Babar Azam grew up idolising Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers. He made his T20I debut in 2016 and rapidly rose to become Pakistan's most consistent and elegant batter across all formats.
Playing Style
Babar is a classical right-hand batter with near-perfect technique, wonderful timing, and a graceful cover drive that draws comparisons to the greats. He plays the ball late and builds innings with composure before exploding in the final stages.
Key Achievements
First batter to be ranked #1 in all three ICC formats simultaneously (2022). Scored 20 ODI centuries in 107 matches โ one of the fastest to reach that milestone. Led Pakistan to the 2021 T20 WC semi-final.
Legacy
Babar Azam revived Pakistan batting in the post-Younis Khan era. His consistency across formats โ particularly his ODI average above 57 โ puts him in the elite company of the sport's all-time greats despite still being in his prime.
